Practice Manager: Jodie

I have over 15 years’ experience working in the community, employment, disability, and social services sector.  My passion is to support teams to be the best they can be. I like to focus on collaboration, innovation, and team/individual growth. I encourage a professional, optimistic and solutions focused culture, that is psychologically safe for my team. We spend so much time at work and it’s important that we see value and enjoy coming to work each day and have high job satisfaction. I have completed my Bachelor of Business and am almost through my Masters in Business Administration.

Specialist Lead/Counsellor: Rachael

I joined CatholicCare as a Counsellor in January 2022.  I am the Specialist Lead for the counselling team, which covers our Northern Sydney, Northern Beaches and Central Coast Family Centres. I have worked as a Counsellor for 12 years, and have a Bachelor of Social Science, specialising in counselling. I am a trauma informed person centred counsellor (PACFA Reg. Clinical 28336) and have worked with all ages. I have the skills and tools to facilitate a unique space where you are given the opportunity to explore things about yourself that may feel painful.  I can teach you strategies that may help as we work together to achieve your counselling goals. You get to create solutions for the challenges you are facing.

Counsellor: April

I completed a Bachelor of Counselling in 2018, with a focus on counselling children and young people and developmental psychology. I did my counselling placement in a local neighbourhood centre providing general, crisis and domestic violence counselling. This experience spurred my passion for supporting victim survivors and this became an area I sought further education and experience during my time in child protection, including through engaging with men who choose to use violence.  I have spent the last 4.5 years in statutory child protection, using predominantly motivational interviewing and person centred/Rogerian approaches to motivate change and create positive outcomes for children and young people at risk of significant harm and their families/carers.  Through trauma informed care I have been able to support children, young people and their families with issues including addiction, homelessness, mental health and domestic violence. I am a fierce advocate for social justice, women’s rights and child safety.

Counsellor: Rebecca

I have my Masters in Psychotherapy and Counselling and am a registered Provisional Psychotherapist and Counsellor under PACFA (Reg. Prov 28241). I am a trauma informed therapist and have been trained in CBT and DBT modalities. I have been trained in couples counselling with Imago therapy techniques and Gottman. I also have experience in art therapy. My passion area is working with and helping clients manage their anxiety and intrusive thoughts. I have a big interest for the polyvagal theory and am intrigued about how trauma and anxiety can affect the body. I cannot see myself doing anything else but this! I love helping people with their mental wellbeing as well as encouraging them to find the strength within themselves to flourish and come out on top!

Counsellor: Eliza

I’ve been working at CatholicCare since June 2022 and am delighted to join such a wonderful team of Counsellors and be part of an  organisation that provides so much to the community. I approach counselling from a collaborative, person centred and trauma informed approach. I work across a number of modalities including ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behaviour Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy) and Narrative Therapy (PACFA membership 27747). The therapy I use is very much guided by what will work best for my client at that particular moment in their lives. I work across issues such as anxiety, grief, relationships, identify and parenting. We explore what is going on within themselves and in their lives and how they can make sense of it, identify thoughts and behaviours and find the strengths and resources that they hold to lead more meaningful and fulfilling lives. I have experience working across a broad range of presentations and see clients from 13 years old and upwards, although my main clients are predominantly adults. I gained much of my experience working at a mental health hospital where I have run group therapy programs for inpatients and outpatients in addiction, mood disorders and young adult wards. I am also an incredibly passionate educator and run sexual education programs at schools for primary school age children as well as their families. I am continually learning, both from my clients and from those I work with and it’s this constant and ongoing development that makes me absolutely love the work that I do.
