Donate to Mary Mac’s Place

Mary Mac’s Place Project is an initiative of St John the Baptist Parish, Woy Woy, and is managed and operated by CatholicCare. It’s open to anyone who is down on their luck, homeless or transient.
Mary Mac’s supplies a three course sit down meal served to our companions by our wonderful volunteers. But it’s more than just a place to get a meal. Mary Mac’s offers a place to shower and to wash clothes. We offer friendly, non-judgmental support and companionship to help alleviate the isolation that can occur. Outreach services like legal aid, homeless connector, emergency relief, and partners in recovery and health assistance are also offered. Tables of rescue food are available as a take home daily for those in need, in addition to food hampers.
Mary Mac’s provides social, community and friendship opportunities for men, women and families, young people, the elderly, and the socially and economically disadvantaged.
Mary Mac’s is not funded and relies on donations or grants to provide this service to our community. Sadly we have seen an increase in need in this community and others. Currently up to 100 meals per day are supplied, 5 days a week.
Our companions have many different faces. There is an increasing number of women and children using the service that are escaping domestic violence and sleeping in their cars because it’s not safe at home, families where the main income earner has fallen ill and needs surgery or treatment and paying for this means they cannot afford their rent and food, pensioners that lose a partner and now cannot afford rent, food or bills on a single pension, people pushed out of the rental market due to rising costs of rent and many more.
