Respite Options

Funded by the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP), flexible respite aims to support carers to cope and manage relationships as they support frail and older loved ones, by providing them with a break from the intensity of care.

What could this look like?

  • Transport to and from appointments / social events / activities
  • In-home support with meals
  • General everyday duties around the home
  • Support with shopping
  • Companionship
  • Someone to talk to and laugh with
  • Time for the carer to go out with friends

We can get you started by by helping to arrange an in-home assessment  through My Aged Care and discussing your needs with them. The My Aged Care website is here. Unfortunately this process can take some weeks. You can also contact them on 1800 931 299.

If you don’t have time to wait for respite – contact the Commonwealth Respite and Carelink Centres for Emergency and Planned Respite. Their website is here.

Do you want to search for other services? Use the My Aged Care Service Finder here.

CatholicCare can also offer respite support on a fee for service basis if you are not eligible for funded services.
