We run classes for seniors who are interested in building or enhancing their creativity in a social setting. At the heart of the centre is the wellbeing of the group. The program also supports people with early stage dementia.
We run classes on the 2nd and 4th Friday;s of each month from 9.30am – 12.00pm and from 12.30pm – 3.00pm in West Pymble.
The students are supported by highly trained facilitators who bring a mix of therapeutic and artistic talent combined with extensive experience in the care sector.
Making art boosts self-confidence and improves wellbeing. With small classes and a friendly, relaxed environment individuals can work at their own pace. The environment is ideal for those who may not have a place in their own homes to make art and the associated mess! All materials are provided.
Boonah holds its annual art exhibition in December and artists are encouraged to participate. The majority of proceeds go back to artists and the experience generates a great deal of camaraderie within the Boonah family.
The cost is $50 per session or $25 concession (for those on full pension). Flyer here.
This program can be accessed through Government support centre-based respite funds for those who are eligible. If you need information or assistance to access the subsidy via My Aged Care, please contact us.
